Support the National Prison Strike

Dear Member,

In January, our union’s leadership voted to endorse a national prison labor strike.  Now, the Oakland Local of the Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee (IWOC) has requested that we stand in solidarity with another Prison Strike set to take place from August 21 through September 9.

Results of Contract Ratification Vote

By a margin of 58.6% to 41.4% (2,564 yes votes to 1,810 no votes), members have voted to ratify the contract. This was one of the largest turnouts for a contract ratification vote in our Union’s history. Ratification Vote reminder and position statements

As we hope you are aware, we currently have a vote underway on whether or not to ratify a Tentative Agreement that our bargaining team has reached with UCOP for our next contract. You can see the details of the agreement here.

A majority of the Bargaining Team voted to reach Tentative Agreement on this offer and to send it to membership for a vote.
