2:30PM – 4PM
Communication Network Part 1: Mapping your department
Communication Network Part 2: One-on-ones

4:15PM – 5:30PM
Stewards’ Network and Stewards’ Council

UAW 2865 has committed to running a comprehensive campaign for the upcoming 2013 contract negotiations to win the best contract possible through building for a strike if necessary. But what does that mean for UC Berkeley, and how does it relate to developing a network of leaders on campus? This training will unpack the concept of a comprehensive contract campaign and provide training on how to organize at the department level, as well as discuss the essential role of the stewards’ network and Stewards’ Council.
The primary goals of the training are to:
  • 1) Develop an understanding of the meaning of a contract campaign and its components, including the tactic of the strike
  • 2) Map out the union leadership’s network on campus and within departments
  • 3) Practice one-on-one and small group outreach within departments
  • 4) Clarify the role of a stewards’ council and stewards’ network, and take steps towards making them stronger

All levels of union organizing experience and participation in the union are welcome! For more information, please contact Tenaya Lafore, Northern California Organizer, at 415-517-3645 or
