UAW 2865 Supports Colombian GM Workers

The UAW 2865 endorsed the following resolution (link below) in support of Colombian autoworkers from Bogota, who worked at the GM plant and were summarily dismissed without any compensation. The UAW International initially supported the workers and helped set up a meeting with GM. But when the company offered far too little and the workers refused to accept the agreement, the UAW International ended its support, even pressuring other unions to follow suit. Over the past two years, these workers have maintained an encampment outside of the U.S. Embassy, demanding either reinstatement or compensation and calling on the U.S. government to intervene and come to their aid. UAW 2865 stands in solidarity with the Columbian autoworkers and echoes their call for the UAW International to renew their support of these workers.
