We will be holding a campus-wide unfair labor practice strike town hall and information session tomorrow, April 1st at Crescent Bay C/D in the Student Center at 6pm. We’ll be giving out information on your rights, coordinating picket lines, and answering any questions you may have about the April 3rd strike. After the information session, we’ll have a fun sign and banner making session.
As a reminder: We will be going on strike in response to a number of unfair labor practices (ULPs) UC management has committed during the course of bargaining. A number of these ULPs constitute intimidation of workers engaging in protected activity during and leading up to last year’s sympathy strike with AFSCME 3299. UC management has a history of intimidation- of unlawfully polling workers over the strike and photographing workers on strike, to name a couple. When UC management violates our right to engage in legally protected union activity, they are attacking our right to have a voice over our working conditions. This type of intimidation is not an error on the part of UC management- they have a responsibility to uphold the terms of our contract and labor law. We must assume that these forms of intimidation are attempts to hinder our challenge their unfair and unlawful practices.
If you think you have received an unlawful poll, or have faced intimidation or threat of retaliation of any kind, please contact us immediately at email@example.com.
